TAMPA ― Tom Brady went there.
When Julian Edelman retired from the NFL after 11 seasons with the Patriots on April 12, there was plenty of speculation that he eventually was headed to Tampa Bay to join Brady. Edelman played only six games with the Patriots in 2020 due to a knee injury.
Remember, Rob Gronkowski retired from the NFL for a year, too, until Brady showed up in Tampa.
During an NFL Draft-A-Thon conference call Thursday night that included both Brady and Edelman, Deion Sanders expressed his surprise that they wouldn’t be reunited with the Bucs.
That’s when the Brady created some drama.
“We know Julian didn’t retire, let’s be honest,” Brady said. “He’s just too scared to tell Bill (Belichick) he wants to come to Tampa. I’ve been there.”
“I see it’s springtime for the Bradys because he’s got his little sailing stripes on,” Edelman said.
“I’m in the Bay,” Brady said.
“I’m in the Bay. You ain’t in the Bay,” Edelman said.
It seems as though Edelman really is retired. Then again...
