TAMPA — The Bucs have claimed linebacker Ladarius Hamilton off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys.

Hamilton spent the 2020 season on the Cowboys’ practice squad as an undrafted free agent before he was released Wednesday.

He is the third former North Texas player to be added to the Bucs roster in less than a week. The Bucs drafted Mean Green receiver Jaelon Darden in the fourth round Sunday and signed free-agent cornerback Nate Brooks earlier Thursday.

The 6-foot-3, 260-pound Hamilton played in 43 games and and recorded 122 tackles, 16 sacks, 28.5 tackles for loss, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery during his career at North Texas. Playing defensive end his final two years, he posted consecutive 7.5-sack seasons.

Prior to this year, the only Mean Green player to appear in a regular-season game for the Bucs was safety Beasley Reece in 1985 when the school was known as North Texas State.
