TAMPA ― The Bucs organization, general manager Jason Licht and former defensive tackle Gerald McCoy were among those reacting on social media after learning about the death Thursday of longtime Pewter Report writer Mark Cook.

Cook, 50, covered the Bucs for the website for more than a decade before leaving last month.

He was an unabashed Florida State fan who formed great relationships with the players, coaches and administrators he covered.

He also was popular among his peers who regularly covered the team.

“Mark, you were a GREAT man and always a pure joy to be around,” Licht tweeted. “You will be sorely missed by all of us.”

Musician Nick Carter, a member of the Backstreet Boys and a longtime Bucs fan who had formed a relationship with Cook, remembered his friend Thursday.

The Bucs said Cook “had a special connection with Buccaneers fans and an incredible knowledge and appreciation of our franchise’s history.”
