TAMPA — Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask will be the only two quarterbacks on the Bucs’ active roster.

Tampa Bay released No. 3 quarterback John Wolford, who they likely will attempt to sign to the practice squad.

The Bucs also released defensive end Patrick O’Connor, who has been with the team since 2017. O’Connor played 977 special teams snaps over the past three years. He has 20 career special teams tackles and also produced 1.5 sacks on defense.

The Bucs must reach the 53-man roster limit by 4 p.m. Tuedsay.

Safety Nolan Turner and former USF defensive tackle Deadrin Senat, two players who finished last season on the active roster, were among the notable players waived earlier Monday.

Turner played in five games after being signed off the practice squad, recording one special teams tackle. Senat finished with 10 tackles last season.

The Bucs also began clearing the logjam at receiver, waiving rookies Taye Barber, Kade Warner, second-year pro Kaylon Geiger and David Moore, who followed offensive coordinator Dave Canales to Tampa Bay from Seattle. Moore’s contract was guaranteed if he was on the final 53-man roster, so they could sign him to a new contract later this week. They also released Cephus Johnson and Ryan Miller.

The Bucs began the offseason with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Russell Gage as their starting receivers. But Gage tore his PCL during the joint workout with the Jets and was placed on injured reserve.

Rookie Trey Palmer made some splash plays early with touchdown receptions in each of his first two preseason games. Undrafted rookie Rakim Jarrett has impressed.

Also released Monday: Running backs Patrick Laird and Ronnie Brown, tight end Dominique Dafney, offensive linemen John Molchon, Luke Haggard, Silas Danzi, Chris Murray and Michael Niese, linebackers Hamilcar Rashed and Ulysees Gilbert, defensive lineman C.J. Brewer, safeties Aaron Young and Richard LeCounte, and cornerbacks Don Gardner, Anthony Chesley and Rodarius Williams.
