TAMPA — Wide receiver DJ Moore only had two receptions for 25 yards in the Bears’ season-opening loss to the Packers last weekend.
Those targets almost certainly will go up Sunday against the Bucs, with cornerback Carlton Davis out for the game.
Rookie defensive lineman Calijah Kancey and linebacker SirVocea Dennis also are out.
Davis has not practiced this week due to a toe injury. Kancey has been held out after aggravating a calf strain in Tampa Bay’s 20-17 win at Minnesota. Dennis was added to the injury report Thursday with a hamstring injury.
“Carlton is probably going to be out for this game,” head coach Todd Bowles said Friday.
If there is good news, it’s that rookie safety Christian Izien appeared to be fully participating in practice Friday after suffering a concussion following his interception near the goal line at the end of the first half against the Vikings.
Izien wore a black non-contact jersey in practice Thursday but appeared to be a full participant Friday and will try to clear concussion protocol Saturday. He is listed as questionable.
“He’s got to pass a few tests, but we’ll see,” Bowles said. “But we’re hopeful.”
With Davis out, the Bucs likely will turn to Zyon McCollum, a second-year pro from Sam Houston State at cornerback. Davis had six tackles against the Vikings and batted away Kirk Cousins’ final pass to seal the win for the Bucs.
“He’s ready to play,” Bowles said of McCollum. “We have all the confidence in the world in him. He had a great summer, he had a great spring. He’s practicing good. We don’t have any problem playing him.”
