Bucs cornerback Carlton Davis inactive vs. Titans, Jamel Dean to play

TAMPA — Beleaguered Bucs cornerback Carlton Davis will have to wait at least another week to atone for one of his worst performances as a pro.

Davis, who surrendered three touchdowns last weekend against the Texans, has been deemed inactive for today’s home game against Tennessee with a toe injury. Second-year speedster Zyon McCollum is expected to make his seventh career start in Davis’ place.

On the positive side, starting cornerback Jamel Dean is active today after spending most of the week in concussion protocol. Dean was a full participant in Friday’s practice.

Other inactives today: quarterback John Wolford, left guard Matt Feiler, running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn, cornerback Josh Hayes and tight end David Wells. Feiler (knee) will miss his third consecutive game. Vaughn, ineffective in six appearances this season (24 carries, 42 yards; two catches on five targets), will be replaced in the tailback rotation by rookie Sean Tucker.

To fortify depth at corner, the Bucs elevated undrafted rookie Keenan Isaac from the practice squad. Fifth-year veteran Dee Delaney also is an option.

The team also announced that receptions leader Chris Godwin (40 catches, 468 yards) is dealing with an illness but is expected to play today. Godwin needs one receiving touchdown to tie Jimmie Giles (34) and surpass Cameron Brate (33) for the second-most TD catches in team history.
