The USF women’s soccer team’s historic season ended Sunday with a 2-1 loss to top-seeded FSU (18-5) in a Sweet 16 match in Tallahassee.

The Bulls (16-5), who never previously had advanced past the NCAA Tournament’s second round, managed only four shots on goal as FSU effectively neutralized USF all-time goals leader Evelyne Viens (one shot).

One of those shots, by Aubrey Megrath in the fifth minute, gave the Bulls a 1-0 lead. FSU tied the score on Jaelin Howell’s goal in the 45th minute. Senior Deyna Castellanos scored on a penalty kick in the second half.
