ORLANDO ― USF has confirmed sophomore slot receiver Johnny Ford, suspended the previous seven games, is eligible for tonight’s “War on I-4” showdown at UCF.

Ford, a 5-foot-5 converted tailback projected to be a key cog in first-year coordinator Kerwin Bell’s pro-style offense, hasn’t played since a 48-21 loss to SMU on Sept. 28. He was suspended for the season opener against Wisconsin, then played three contests before being suspended again for unspecified reasons.

Ford enters tonight’s contest with 13 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns, with eight carries for 45 yards. Last year, he ran for 787 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging 6.8 yards a carry as a sleek complement to 1,000-yard rusher Jordan Cronkrite.

USF enters Spectrum Stadium ranked last in the American Athletic Conference in total offense (338.3 ypg) and 11th in scoring offense (22.1 ppg).
