TAMPA — New USF football coach Jeff Scott scored immediate points with Bulls fans Wednesday at his introductory press conference with a story of his one moment of fame as a college football player.

It came in Clemson’s 21-13 victory over USF arch-rival UCF in a 2001 game at Clemson.

“I scored one touchdown at Clemson in my career,” Scott, a former walk-on and holder for Clemson field goals and extra points, told reporters Wednesday. “It was a 21-yard run on an option to beat Central Florida in the fourth quarter.”

Actually, It was actually a 22-yard touchdown run on a fake field goal, albeit in the third quarter to put Clemson up 21-7.

Scott said when USF officials came to South Carolina to interview him for the Bulls head coaching job he showed them a photograph of the moment.
