TAMPA — USF sophomore Spencer Shrader, a Newsome High alum, has been named the American Athletic Conference special teams player of the week after going 4-for-4 on field goals in a 34-33 loss at Memphis on Saturday.

Shrader hit from 41, 46, 47 and 49 yards, a performance that placed him in the spotlight after residing in relative obscurity this season. Before Saturday, Shrader had attempted only one other field goal, an attempt he missed.

Shrader’s four field goals for 40-plus yards also made him the first USF kicker to convert a field goal longer than 40 yards since the Bulls' 2018 home opener, and made him the first kicker since Emilio Nadelman (against Cincinnati on Oct. 14, 2017) to make four in a single game.
