Temple uses first-half surge to beat USF men

A 12-3 run midway through the first half helps the Owls snap a six-game losing streak.

TAMPA — Khalif Battle scored 22 points with six rebounds and four assists to lead Temple to a 65-47 victory over USF Wednesday at the Yuengling Center.

Jeremiah Williams added 11 points and J.P. Moorman scored 10 points off the bench to help the Owls snap a six-game losing streak.

Justin Brown led USF with 16 points, six rebounds and three steals, while David Collins finished with 13 points to move into seventh place all-time at USF with 1,481 career points.

Temple used a 12-3 run midway through the first half, capped by back-to-back three-pointers from Moorman, to go ahead 21-12. USF responded with an 8-0 run minutes later to pull even following a trey by Brown. The Owls regained the lead on the ensuing possession and took a four-point lead at halftime.

Temple outscored USF 17-4 and held the Bulls without a field goal for the first seven minutes of the second half to build a 51-34 lead.
