CLEARWATER — The host Tornadoes (3-0) dominated Dunedin (0-3) on Homecoming night, winning 56-0. After a bit of a slow start, Clearwater scored 14 points in just eight seconds late in the first quarter.
Adarius Lemons ran for a 1-yard touchdown to put the Tornadoes on the board. Dunedin took over at its own 20 and on the first play lost a fumble that was returned by Charod Streater for a touchdown.
Clearwater continued to pour it on in the second quarter with Lemons running for a 1-yard touchdown. On the next drive he caught a 47-yard touchdown pass from Austin Day to put the Tornadoes up 28-0. Day capped off the half with a 1-yard touchdown run, giving Clearwater a 35-0 lead and running clock in the second half.
The Tornadoes found the end zone on all three of their second-half drives. Day threw third-quarter touchdown passes of 26 yards to Tahron Young and 28 yards to Semaj James.
Key drive: After being stopped on downs on their opening drive, the Tornadoes went to work on their second, taking over at their own 47 and driving 53 yards in five plays. A 26-yard run by Jarius Williams moved the ball into Dunedin territory and a 25-yard reception by Jacquez Jones helped set up Lemons' first 1-yard touchdown run.
