Bucs busy interviewing offensive coordinator candidates

TAMPA — Working quickly to hire an offensive coordinator, the Bucs have been interviewing candidates from NFL staffs who were fired this past week, according to national reports.

The Bucs interviewed former Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter on Saturday, according to ESPN. Koetter, 55, has coached the Falcons offense for the past three years, handling the same role for the Jaguars for five seasons before that.

On Friday, the Bucs interviewed another newly available offensive coordinator in the 49ers' Greg Roman, Fox Sports reported. Roman, 42, spent the past four years on Jim Harbaugh's 49ers staff, working with a young quarterback in Colin Kaepernick.

The Bucs have also been linked to former Bears coach Marc Trestman, who was photographed with his wife and Bucs quarterback Josh McCown (who played with him in Chicago in 2013) on Clearwater Beach on Thursday. Other names mentioned were former Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhin­weg, former Browns coach Rob Chudzinski and former Vikings coach Brad Childress.

coaching updates: The Jets met with former Bills coach Doug Marrone, 50, on Saturday as they seek a replacement for the fired Rex Ryan. Chargers offensive coordinator Frank Reich is expected to meet with the Jets soon. … Broncos defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio interviewed for Oakland's head coaching vacancy. Del Rio, 51, who grew up in the San Francisco bay area, is a former Jaguars head coach.
