TAMPA — Scoring touchdowns in the air, on the ground and on two punt returns, Plant (3-0, 1-0) dominated in every aspect of Friday's game. And when the dust settled in its 64-0 victory over Leto (0-3, 0-1), coach Robert Weiner couldn't help but look ahead to his team's showdown against Armwood.

"It'll be a huge test; they are outstanding in every way with so many skill players," Weiner said. "We love playing this game. While the game doesn't have playoff implications and doesn't mean anything in the district or your standings, it means everything in helping us get better."

Key drives: Panthers quarterback Dane Frantzen opened the game with two touchdown passes — to Whop Philyor and USC commit Juwan Burgess — as Leto struggled gain yardage offensively. With Plant leading 43-0 in the second quarter, coaches agreed to a running clock and, in the second half, officials shortened the third and fourth quarters to eight minutes of play.

Stars of the game: Philyor scored four touchdowns, including a 57-yard run and three touchdown catches. Frantzen completed 8 of 9 passes for 135 and four touchdowns. He also had a 20-yard punt return in the second quarter. Burgess scored two touchdowns for Plant, a 38-yard catch, then a 40-yard punt return in the first quarter. Plant caught four passes for 51 yards, three of them touchdown catches. Junior Ty Thompson scored two touchdowns, a 56-yard run and a 54-yard punt return. He also came in to kick two extra points.

Final word: "My performance is a little sneak peek of what's to come next week. Hopefully we'll continue getting on the board like we did." — Burgess
