Preseason football: Jefferson 14, King 0

Published Aug. 20, 2016

TAMPA — After a pregame rain delay, and with 2:40 remaining in the first quarter, King and Jefferson had to call their preseason game because of lightning in the surrounding area. Within that first quarter, the Dragons won 14-0 over the Lions.

Though the game was cut short, Jefferson quarterback Cade Weldon and his offensive line came ready to play. After the Dragons decided to receive the ball after the coin toss, it took no time at all for B.J. Williams to run 5 yards for the first touchdown. This was followed by Weldon throwing a 30-yard pass to Dontavius Smith, who ran it the rest of the way for the final touchdown. Junior kicker Aaron Quiambao hit both extra points.
