FSU quarterback Bailey Hockman intends to transfer

The blue-chip recruit's decision leaves James Blackman as the clear No. 2 quarterback and deprives the Seminoles of some depth.

Four days after losing the quarterback battle to Deondre Francois, Bailey Hockman is transferring from Florida State.

Hockman was the dark horse in a three-way competition with Francois and sophomore James Blackman. A redshirt freshman from Georgia, Hockman was a four-star recruit in the 2017 class but had his progress slowed by multiple injuries.

He and Blackman were both listed as options for the No. 2 quarterback, so his departure leaves Blackman as the unquestioned backup.

The No. 19 Seminoles open their season Monday night against No. 20 Virginia Tech.
