The No. 9 Florida Gators probably won’t be facing South Carolina’s third-string quarterback after all.
Gamecocks coach (and former UF coach) Will Muschamp said Ryan Hilinski took plenty of snaps Wednesday after leaving last week’s upset of Georgia with a knee injury.
“He looked fine today to me,” Muschamp said during the SEC coaches’ teleconference. “I think we’re ready to roll.”
Hilinski, a freshman, began the season as a backup but took over the starting job when suffered a season-ending foot injury last month. Hilinski has passed for 1,028 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions in five games.
When he injured his knee at Georgia, he was replaced by Dakereon Joyner, who’s more of a dual-threat talent than Hilinski.
