The Florida Gators have again tapped into Tampa for a tight end.

Jefferson High four-star tight end Gage Wilcox announced Friday evening that he has orally committed to UF. The 6-foot-4, 228-pound prospect announced his commitment by putting on a Gators cap on an Instagram video.

Wilcox is the nation’s No. 248 overall recruit. He also had offers from Alabama, Auburn and Florida State, among others.

He was No. 16 on the Tampa Bay Times’ HomeTeam 100 list of the top prep football players in the area before last season. As a junior, he caught 20 passes for 249 yards and seven touchdowns for the Dragons.

It’s the second class in a row the Gators landed a tight end from Tampa; Jesuit High’s Jonathan Odom signed with UF in the 2020 class.

Wilcox is the eighth blue-chip commit and 13th overall for UF’s 2021 class. That haul is ranked second nationally, behind only Ohio State.

Oral commitments are non-binding until recruits sign letters of intent during their senior year.
