The Florida Gators are picked to win the SEC East, at least according to the media’s preseason poll.
UF earned 53 first-place votes in the division, ahead of rival Georgia (which received 43).
The poll has Alabama winning the West and the conference as a whole. The Crimson Tide had 77 votes to claim the league championship. Georgia and LSU had seven each, and the Gators had five.
Full disclosure: I didn’t participate in the poll this year, but I’ll pick UF to win the East, and 'Bama to win the conference.
UF quarterback Kyle Trask and tight end Kyle Pitts were both first-team selections. Three Gators were on the second-team defense: defensive lineman Zachary Carter (Hillsborough High) and defensive backs Kaair Elam and Marco Wilson. Linebacker Ventrell Miller was a third-team pick.
