GAINESVILLE — The No. 10 Florida Gators are without 15 players, including multiple starters in the secondary, for Saturday night’s game against Missouri.

Among the notable absences: Defensive back Marco Wilson, who has started 29 games in his UF career; starting safeties Donovan Stiner and Shawn Davis and Evan McPherson (one of the SEC’s top kickers).

They were all officially listed as unavailable. UF does not specify the reason why any of them are out, but their absences come after a coronavirus outbreak that has led to at least 37 positives in October, just among players. The program shut down for two weeks to try to combat the spike and postponed two games.

Here’s the full list of unavailable players, as announced by UF:

Marco Wilson

Shawn Davis

C.J. McWilliams

Donovan Stiner

Quincy Lenton

Evan McPherson

Ethan Pouncey

Avery Helm

Chester Kimbrough

Mordecai McDaniel

Lacedrick Brunson

Austin Perry

Jaelin Humphries

TJ Moore

Ethan White

Chris Howard was introduced as the probable starting kicker. The redshirt junior has appeared in three games before this week and made a 48-yard field goal during warmups.

UF’s likely replacements in the secondary were junior Trey Dean, senior Brad Stewart and four-star freshman Rashad Torrence. Dean has 15 career starts, and Stewart has started 11 games.

UF did get some players back. Defensive tackle Kyree Campbell, who did not play in the first three games, went through warmups and was announced as a probable starter. Change-of-pace quarterback Emory Jones, who didn’t play against South Carolina and was unavailable in the loss at Texas A&M, looked like a full participant in warmups.
