HUDSON — Sunlake's Kelly Harris defended her title and Mitchell extended its Sunshine Athletic Conference-record winning streak to 14 Monday at The Links.
Harris, a junior, shot 75, nine strokes lower than last year's winning score at Plantation Palms. The two-time SAC individual medalist was the conference runnerup as a freshman.
"I don't have that much pressure because I've played with these girls for three years, so I know what I'm up against," Harris said. "I was positive. I had no ups and downs."
Mitchell totaled 341; Wiregrass Ranch won a tiebreaker over Fivay for second as both teams shot 360. The Bulls had fewer 8s in individual play.
Mackenzie Bennett led the Mustangs with 84 with teammate Lindsey Ritchey one stroke behind. Mitchell's Shyanne Dove, last year's runnerup, and Haley Hill each had 86.
"They just keep coming and, hopefully, (the conference record winning streak) is going to continue to happen," said Scott Schmitz, who is in his second stint coaching the Mustangs after a four-year run by Tom Stratman. "They don't want to be the first group not to win it. It's pretty impressive."
Wiregrass Ranch had the best finish in school history. Remley Horrigan led the Bulls with 81.
