Baseball: Wrapping up local picks in the third day of MLB draft

A mix of current college and high school players from Tampa Bay are taken late in the draft.

The third and final day of the Major League Baseball draft was held Wednesday. Here's a look at where some local players were drafted:

RHP Ryan Fernandez (Alonso High School/Hillsborough CC) was taken in the 23rd round (700th pick) by the Red Sox.

RHP Johnnie Schneider (Calvary Christian/Palm Beach Atlantice) was taken in the 29th round (859th pick) by the Reds.

LHP Cobi Johnson (Mitchell/FSU) was taken in the 30th round (896th pick) by the Blue Jays.

LHP Austin Drury (Wiregrass Ranch/North Florida) was taken in the 34th round (1,034th pick) by the Dodgers.

RHP Jack Anderson (Jesuit) was taken in the 36th round (1,087th pick) by the Yankees.

OF Robby Martin (Jefferson) was taken in the 37th round (1,117th pick) by the Marlins.

RHP Franco Aleman (Alonso) was taken in the 38th round (1,132nd pick) by the Braves.

C  Matheu Nelson (Calvary Christian) was taken in the 39th round (1,157th pick) by the Phillies.
