Scouting Dunedin’s state baseball semifinal

Dunedin (22-8) faces Lynn Haven Mosley (25-3) in the Class 6A semifinal at 10 a.m. Friday at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers.

How they got here

Dunedin defeated defeated Sebring 6-2, Lake Wales 4-3 and Cape Coral Mariner 4-0. Mosley defeated West Florida 13-5, Gulf Breeze 4-2 and the Paxton School 14-3.

Outlook

This looks like it will be a battle of aces. Vogel has been pitching well for Dunedin and will need one more good outing against a team that hits .320 overall. Mosley’s Pettys is a Florida State commit who has a lively fastball and racks up strikeouts. This looks like it has the potential to be a close, low-scoring game. Like Dunedin, Mosley last made the state semifinals in 2017. Mosley has won four straight to get in this position. Dunedin is on an eight-game win streak. Both of these teams have a long history in the state tournament. The Falcons won a state title in 2008. Mosley last won one in 2002.
