Palm Harbor University’s annual softball tournament set for this weekend

The Lady 'Canes Spring Classic features eight teams that have won at least one state title.

Palm Harbor University hosts its annual Lady ’Canes Spring Classic, a 16-team softball tournament that includes some of the top programs in the area and state. East Lake, the defending champion, returns and faces two-time defending Class 3A state champion Admiral Farragut in the opening round Friday.

When: Friday-Saturday

Where: Eddie C. Moore (Complex 1), 2780 Drew St., Clearwater

Admission: $10 for all-tournament pass (every game); $6 for daily pass

Friday: Bartow vs. Canterbury, 4 (Field 2); Sunlake vs. Strawberry Crest, 5 (Field 1); East Lake vs. Admiral Farragut, 5 (Field 3); Steinbrenner vs. Osceola, 5 (Field 4); Braden River vs. Academy of the Holy Names, 7 (Field 2); Sarasota vs. Palm Harbor University, 7 (Field 1); Calvary Christian vs. Land O’ Lakes, 7 (Field 4); Robinson vs. Lake Mary, 7 (Field 3).

Saturday: Consolation games, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; quarterfinals, 11 a.m.; semifinals, 3 p.m.; third-place game, 5; final, 7.
