Carrollwood Day tight end Michael Trigg, a four-star prospect ranked 159th on the ESPN 300 for the Class of 2021, verbally committed Sunday to Southern California.

Trigg (6-foot-4, 230 pounds), who transferred from Seffner Christian in the offseason, had narrowed his choices to the Trojans, South Carolina and LSU.

An Under Armour All-American who also excels at basketball, Trigg has expressed his desire to play both sports at the next level and was offered by USF in both sports nearly 18 months ago. As a sophomore, he averaged 20 points for Seffner Christian, leading the Crusaders to the Class 4A state final, where he totaled 33 points and seven rebounds in a loss.

In four games this season at Carrollwood Day, he has 20 receptions for 353 yards and four touchdowns. Plant City receiver Mario Williams (No. 15) and Bloomingdale receiver Agiye Hall (No. 56) are the only bay area players ranked higher than him on the ESPN 300.

Verbal commitments are non-binding. For now, the early signing period for Division I-A is set to start Dec. 16.
