TAMPA — Senior Joe Pesansky threw for 300 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Jesuit (7-0) rolled to a 55-14 victory over previously undefeated Robinson on Friday. The Tigers started fast as Pesansky connected with Junior Vandeross (three catches, 116 yards) for 71 yards on the second play of the game. A few plays later it was senior Joquez Smith on a 1-yard scoring run for a quick 6-0 lead. On Jesuit’s next possession, Pesansky scored on a 3-yard keeper and the Tigers were up 14-0.Later in the quarter, Pesansky showed some touch on a 1-yard touchdown to junior tight end Mikey Leonardo, then 58 yards to sophomore speedster Jarriett Buie Jr. for a 28-0 lead after one quarter.Pesansky had high praise for his stable of receivers.“Junior is just a tremendous athlete. He’s our punter. He returns punts. He runs the ball. Catches the ball. Buie has really come along over the past few games. It’s his first year on varsity and he’s adjusting well. J5 (Jaydn Girard) is a huge asset to our team and the most experienced of the receiving core. Carter French is old reliable. He is very consistent for us. and Mikey Leonardo has caught a few touchdowns and he’s a great blocker.”The Knights (4-1) put together their best drive of the game to span 80 yards on just three plays to start the second quarter. It was capped by a 16-yard touchdown on a scramble by junior quarterback Rickeem Parks (86 rushing yards, two touchdowns) to cut the score to 28-6.After forcing a punt, the Knights looked to continue their momentum, but Tigers junior linebacker A.J. Cottrill put an end to that thought with a 40-yard pick-6 for a 34-6 lead.Jesuit continued to pile up points in the second half on rushing touchdowns by Smith, backup quarterback Luke Knight and back Myles Coates.Pesansky knows this edition of the Tigers has a chance to be special, but there is still work to be done.“We have to continue to push ourselves in practice. We have to prepare for not only the next three games, but the next six after that," he said.
