ST. PETERSBURG — Visiting Braden River racked up more than 500 yards of offense to roll over St. Petersburg 38-14. Deshaun Fenwick ran for 194 yards on 30 carries with a touchdown, while junior QB Bryan Gagg was 9-of-14 for 235 yards and three scores.

The Pirates (9-1, 4-1) seized the moment early in the first quarter when Tyler Navas pounced on a loose ball during a kickoff. The Green Devils just stood by and watch as Navas dove on the live ball. Gagg connected with Knowledge McDaniel on a 28-yard post route the next play to snag the early 14-0 lead.

The Green Devils (6-4, 1-3) put up some resistance shortly after the half when Derrel Kelley III returned the opening kick 95 yards to pull within 10. St. Petersburg's defense recovered a Fenwick fumble two plays later. They capitalized seven plays later when QB Tonio Shavers snuck in from the one.

Braden River ended any hopes of a comeback by following the Green Devil score with a 20-play drive which ended when Pirate RB Camaron White ran in from the four to put it away.

Key drive: St. Petersburg, down by 17, embarked on a 17-play drive while taking off more than seven minutes of the clock. The drive ended with 1:29 left in the second and a Green Devil punt. It seemed to exemplify their entire night.

Final word: "We answered adversity at the beginning of the second half. We took a punch and got back in the game. Playoff teams have to do that." — Braden River coach Curt Bradley

Final word II: "I love my boys up front. When they open things up, I feel like I have to run great for them." — Fenwick
