LARGO — Calvary Christian (6-2) ended its season with a bang Friday night, earning a 35-7 victory over nonconference opponent Indian Rocks Christian (8-2). The Warriors set the tone early, opening with three straight touchdowns while the Golden Eagles had three straight three-and-outs. The Warriors defense flew to the ball all night and suffocated the Eagles offense, which was unable to reach 100 total yards.Key drive: With the Warriors ahead 20-0, Indian Rocks finally developed a little offense and went for it on fourth and 6 from the 50 but threw incomplete. The Warriors took advantage of the great field position. D'andre Ferguson busted a 15-yard run to start the possession, followed by a run of 8 yards. Quarterback Alex Laccabue finished it off with a read option take for 6 yards, then he went 17 yards to the end zone. The Warriors completed a two-point conversion and take a 28-0 lead.Stars of the game: Laccabue recorded three touchdowns in one half, a 60-yard pass to Amari Burney, a 33-yard pass to Keoki Abasial and his own 17-yard run. Abasial also added a 6-yard touchdown run, while Jordan Niles recorded the other Warriors score with a 15-yard rushing touchdown off a jet sweep.Final word: "Our defense was very physical tonight and set the tone early.
