TAMPA — The Hillsborough (7-3, 4-1) defense started off hot against Lennard (0-10, 0-6) Friday night. The Terriers forced a punt, followed by a 28-yard interception for a touchdown by Tyrese Spain to give the Terriers a 7-0 lead. On their next offensive possession, they drove 50 yards, ending in a 29-yard touchdown by Daquion McGee to extend the lead to 14-0.The offense continued to score as the Terriers led 35-0 at the half. With a running clock in the second half, the Terriers tacked on a pair of touchdowns for a 49-0 victory to end the regular season. Stars of the game: The Terriers continued a high-scoring first half with a 28-yard touchdown connection from Tyler Thomas to Terence Doston. The pair connected again for a 16-yard touchdown to make it 35-0 at the end of the half. Key drive: A fumble recovery and return by Doston set up the Terriers at the Lennard 2-yard line and Spain ran it in to extend the lead to 21-0. Final word: "(Lennard coach) Matt Kitchie started a new program over there, so it's going to take them some time. We had seven players that missed practice due to injury, so our main concern was to get it done and rest some players, which we did.
