HomeTeam Hot Shots: Female nominations for Dec. 9-15

Each week, our HomeTeam staffers nominate female Hot Shots from each of the counties we cover. Then we turn the voting over to readers. These nominations span Saturday, Dec. 9-Friday, Dec. 15. Read up on all of our nominees then vote until noon Monday. Note: Voting is temporarily disabled on mobile devices. These are the last nominations until after the winter break.

Jakara Akins, basketball, Keswick Christian: The sophomore forward scored 15 points and had three big baskets in the fourth quarter of a 53-42 win over Northside Christian. The Crusaders improved to 9-0.

Chloey Conte, soccer, Countryside: The freshman scored twice in a 3-1 win over St. Petersburg. She also scored two goals against Tarpon Springs and had a goal in a 2-2 tie against area power Palm Harbor University.

Madison Kurtz, soccer, Academy of the Holy Names: The sophomore scored two goals in a 6-0 win over rival Tampa Catholic. In 10 games prior she had only one goal.

India Lewis, basketball, Fivay: The senior guard scored a school-record 37 points in a win over Ridgewood to help the Falcons improve to 7-2.

Lyndsey McWhorter, basketball, Anclote: The senior guard scored 14 points in a win over Nature Coast to surpass 1,000 points in her career. She is the first player in school history to break 1,000.

Jalyn Spurlin, basketball, Tampa Bay Tech: Spurlin, a junior guard, scored 19 points in a win over Lennard and 18 in a win over Durant. Before Friday night's district tilt with Plant City, she was averaging 11.5 points per game.
