TAMPA — It was only appropriate that the Lombardi Trophy make an appearance at a Lightning game following the Bucs’ Super Bowl run.
In October, the Lightning brought the Stanley Cup to Raymond James Stadium for a Bucs game. On Thursday night, outside linebacker Shaquil Barrett showed up with the NFL’s premier hardware at Amalie Arena, sharing the love with Tampa Bay on a Fox Sports Sun broadcast spot and again in his suite during the first period.
It was the first time Barrett had seen the Lightning in person.
“It’s exciting,” he said. “There’s a lot of antsy people waiting for something big to happen all of the time and ready to explode when it happens.”
Barrett, who agreed to a four-year, $72-million contract with $34.5 million guaranteed Monday, came to Thursday’s game with wife Jordanna and their three children: 9-year-old Shaquil Jr., 7-year-old Braylon and 5-year-old Aaliyah. The Barretts are expecting another daughter next month.
“It’s exciting to get out right now ... with the ability to do stuff like this,” he said. “So just taking a moment and living it up right now as much as we can and take advantage of the family time.”
