Ryan McDonagh was just trying to get a last-second shot on net.

Islanders defenseman Ryan Pulock had other ideas as he made a diving save across the goal line to save the backhanded shot as time expired. Had the puck gone in, Game 4 would have gone into overtime.

“A great move by their defenseman,” McDonagh said, “desperation, and he comes up with a huge block.”

The Lightning lost 3-2 in New York, rallying from a 3-0 deficit. The semifinal series is now tied at 2-all with Game 5 at Amalie Arena on Monday at 8 p.m.
