The field for the LPGA’s Pelican Women’s Championship got a little deeper Saturday afternoon with the additions of world No. 7 Lydia Ko and sponsor exemptions Maria Fassi and Stephanie Meadow.

With Ko’s commitment, the tournament now has eight of the top 10 players in the world, with action teeing off in Belleair on Nov. 11.

Last year, Meadow placed third overall, two strokes removed from second place and five from first. Ko tied for fourth and Fassi for 27th.

“We are excited that Maria and Stephanie will be joining the field at the Pelican Women’s Championship,” said Marci Doyle, executive director of the tournament.

On Thursday, world No. 1 Jin Young Ko pledged to play. World No. 2 Sei Young Kim — who won the tournament last year — and Bradenton’s Nelly and Jessica Korda committed in mid October.

Last year’s field of 108 competed for a $1,750,000 purse and the money remains the same this year.

For the first time, the tournament will be open to fans. Last year’s attendance was restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tickets are on sale exclusively at www.PelicanLPGA.com.
