Amid growing speculation that Tom Brady might be coming to Tampa Bay comes reports that one of his favorite targets also could take Raymond James Stadium by storm.
Rob Gronkowski reportedly is poised to appear and perform at WrestleMania 36 on April 5.
Ryan Satin reported Tuesday night on FS1’s WWE Backstage that Gronkowski ― the retired Patriots tight end and current NFL analyst for Fox ― is “deep in talks” with WWE and close to finalizing a deal.
On Wednesday morning, The Wrap’s Tony Maglio, citing an anonymous source, reported that Gronkowski already has signed with the company and is set to appear on the March 20 episode of SmackDown on Fox.
The WWE declined comment Wednesday afternoon.
Gronkowski made a cameo at WrestleMania 33 in 2017, jumping from ringside to help Mojo Rawley win the 33-man Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
A three-time Super Bowl champ and member of the NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team, Gronkowski, 30, retired following the 2018 season, indicating the injuries sustained during his nine-year career took a toll on him mentally.
