The WWE is expected to announce Thursday it’s moving the headquarters of ThunderDome — the sleek, state-of-the-art virtual viewing experience of its showcase events — to Tropicana Field. The residency is expected to begin in December, with only essential personnel in actual attendance.ThunderDome has been held in recent months at Orlando’s Amway Center, allowing fans to virtually attend weekly episodes of Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown , as well as the company’s myriad pay-per-view events, via rows of LED screens surrounding the ring. The production also features drones, pyrotechnics, lasers and video boards.Thursday’s announcement comes almost eight months to the day after the WWE announced it was moving WrestleMania 36 — originally set for April 5 at Raymond James Stadium — to its training facility in Orlando , where it was staged with no live crowd and broadcast globally.Ironically, Tropicana Field was known as ThunderDome when the Lightning played there from 1993-96 before entering the sprawling naming-rights realm.
