NBA All-Star Game facts and rosters

This year it all takes place in one night due to the coronavirus.

Saturday: NBA All-Star Game

What: Team LeBron vs. Team Durant, 8 p.m., State Farm Arena, Atlanta

TV: TNT. Coverage of the Skills Challenge and 3-Point Contest starts at 6:30; the Dunk Contest is at halftime. All the activities take place over one night due to the coronavirus rather than throughout the weekend as in years past. Attendance will be limited.

Entertainment: Gladys Knight will sing the U.S. national anthem and Alessia Cara will sing the Canadian national anthem. … The Florida A&M University Marching 100 and the Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band will perform from their campuses during player introductions. ... The Clark Atlanta University Philharmonic Society Choir will perform an original rendition of Lift Every Voice and Sing. … Anthony Hamilton will perform his song Fine Again in recognition of frontline workers.

HBCUs to benefit: The game is generating $3 million for Historically Black Colleges and Universities through donations to scholarship funds. The actual value to those schools will far exceed that influx of cash, with almost every All-Star element set to showcase and celebrate HBCU traditions and culture.
