The Red Sox defeated the Dodgers 5-1 on Sunday night in Los Angeles to win their first World Series title since 2013, capping off an MLB-best 119-win season (counting regular season and playoffs).
With former Ray David Price on the mound to start Sunday’s Game 5, the Red Sox jumped on the Dodgers and ace Clayton Kershaw immediately, scoring twice in the first inning.
The Dodgers would never recover.
Following the win in Dodger Stadium, Red Sox players and coaches celebrated their fourth World Series title since 2004 by spraying champagne and lighting victory cigars. Some videos showed the team singing Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York and Tupac’s California Love in the clubhouse.
Meanwhile, newspapers in New England and Los Angeles went to work.
