Game day report: Rays vs. Pirates, 1:05 in Port Charlotte

The Rays host the Pirates today in Port Charlotte and will get their first look at former hitting coach Derek Shelton in his new role as Pirates manager.

Shelton was with the Rays until the 2016 season, then spent one year on the Blue Jays staff and two as the Twins bench coach before being hired to take over the Pirates.

Rays manager Kevin Cash said he expects Shelton to do very well in a managerial role.

Ryan Yarbough will be on the mound for the Rays, making his third start of the spring.

Veteran Derek Holland is slated to start for the Pirates.
