Game day report: Rays vs. Orioles, 1:05, in Port Charlotte; at Braves, 1:05, in North Port

It’s the second split squad day of the spring, with Sean Gilmartin starting at home and prospect Joe Ryan on the road.

UPDATE, 9:03: Blake Snell said his elbow felt good this morning and he’d expect to pitch Monday vs. Blue Jays but he wants to wait until he plays catch today to be sure.

DEVELOPING: The Rays have their second of three split-squad days today, with one game at home against the Orioles and the other a short ride up U.S. 41 against the Braves in North Port.

Veteran lefty Sean Gilmartin, making a non-roster bid for a relief spot, gets the start in the home game. Prospect Joe Ryan, pitching to impress his bosses, makes his second spring start in the road game.

Top prospect Wander Franco is listed as a reserve for the squad going to North Port and is likely to play in the later innings.
