Rays hosting supplies drive to help medical workers

Personal protective equipment for nurses and doctors will be collected, as well as food donations.
Hand sanitizer is among the items the Rays are accepting during this weekend's collection drive for medical workers.

ST. PETERSBURG — With the scheduled opening weekend of the season postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Rays, in partnership with city and county officials, are making a Tropicana Field parking lot available for a supplies drive to help medical workers.

Items being collected include masks (surgical, P100, N95), face shields, gloves (Nitrile), safety glasses and goggles, tear-away gowns, hand sanitizer, wipes, disinfectant spray and isopropyl alcohol (91 percent).

Water and non-perishable food items will also be accepted.

Donations can be made from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday in Lot 4 on 17th Street between First and Third Avenues South.
