Breakdown of Rays’ 60-player roster

A position-by-position look and comments on the players headed to summer camp this week.

Here is the Rays’ 60-man list of players invited to camp this week, with 37 (shown in bold) working out at Tropicana Field and the other 23 in Port Charlotte. They will have to pick a 30-man roster for the July 24 opening day. (Players not on 40-man roster marked with *):

Pitchers (30)

• LH Jose Alvarado: Returns from rough 2019

• RH Nick Anderson: Leading candidate to close games

• LH Anthony Banda: Looked back in form after TJ surgery

• RH Shane Baz*: Dazzling stuff and he just turned 21
