Probable pitchers

RAYS: LH Blake Snell (4-2, 3.24 regular season;1-1, 3.38 postseason). Snell was dominant in the Wild Card Series opener against Toronto, allowing one hit over 5⅔ innings, not as much against the Yankees in the ALDS opener, giving up four runs on three homers in five innings Monday. Pitching with an extra day’s rest. Faced Astros three times in 2019 ALDS, twice in relief. Overall, 2-2, 4.73 vs. Astros.

ASTROS: LH Framber Valdez (5-3, 3.57; 2-0, 1.50). Valdez emerged as a key pitcher for Houston last year and a top starter this year. Allowed only four runs total over past four starts, including playoff wins over Twins and A’s. Had 85 strikeouts in 80⅔ innings overall. Throws mostly fastball (93 mph) and curveball. Has not faced Rays, which he said should be to his advantage.
