Brandon Lowe hit two home runs, driving in three runs, and Joey Wendle had three RBIs of his own as the Rays beat the Dodgers 6-4 in Game 2 of the World Series Wednesday at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Tampa Bay pitchers combined to strike out 15 Los Angeles batters. Starter Blake Snell struck out nine, pitching no-hit ball for 4-2/3 innings before Chris Taylor reached him for a two-run homer in the fifth.

The Rays tied the best-of-seven series at one game apiece. Game 3 is Friday at 8:08 p.m.

Lowe, who entered the game batting .107 (6-for-56) in the postseason, drove a 95 mph fastball from Los Angeles starter Tony Gonsolin 410 feet to left-centerfield in the first inning.

The Rays scored two more runs in the fourth to extend their lead to 3-0.

Randy Arozarena reached on a walk but was retired at second when Ji-Man Choi hit into a fielder’s choice. After Manuel Margot singled, moving Choi to second, Wendle doubled to right-center, scoring both runners.

Lowe added a two-run shot off Dustin May in the fifth, sending an 86 mph curveball 381 feet off the top of the fence in left to make it 5-0. Austin Meadows singled ahead of Lowe’s blast.

The Rays tacked on a run in the sixth on a Wendle sacrifice fly, his third RBI of the game.

Will Smith homered off reliever Nick Anderson to trim the Rays' lead to 6-3 in the bottom of the sixth. Corey Seager made it 6-4 with a homer off Pete Fairbanks in the eighth.

Snell allowed two runs on two hits and four walks on 88 pitches. He was relieved By Anderson after walking Mookie Betts and allowing a Corey Seager single following Taylor’s home run to right-centerfield in the fifth. Anderson struck out Justin Turner to end the threat.

Okay, we know by now that hitting isn’t exactly the Rays' strong suit.

Tampa Bay reached the World Series thanks its pitching, defense and ability to wring every last drop of production out of its roster — along with some timely at-bats from Randy Arozarena and Manuel Margot.

So, Game 2 should play right into its hands, right?

The Rays will have former Cy Young award winner Blake Snell on the mound, while the Dodgers — with Walker Buehler, being pushed back to Game 3 due to blister issues — will try to cover the nine innings with their bullpen.

But as we found out in Game 1, having your best pitchers rested and ready doesn’t necessarily guarantee success. Tyler Glasnow struggled with his control Tuesday, walking six batters while yielding six runs on 112 pitches in just over four innings of an 8-3 loss.

Snell was lights-out in the Wild Card Series against the Blue Jays, then seemed to work in and out of trouble while running up a high pitch count during the past two series against the Yankees and Astros.

In his most recent outing, he walked three of the first seven Astros in Game 6 of the ALCS and needed 42 pitches to get through the first two innings. He was relieved — much to his chagrin — after allowing the first two batters to reach in the fifth.

If Snell can avoid the high-pitch innings, particularly early on, that have plagued him for much of this postseason and battle as he did in Game 1 of the ALCS, the Rays could very well find the series tied at the end of the night.

If not, it might not matter who is on the mound for the Dodgers.

Rays manager Kevin Cash is sticking with the struggling Austin Meadows and Brandon Lowe at the top of the batting order. Meadows is 4-for-37 for the postseason and 0-for-his past-12. Lowe is 6-for-56.

Follow along, starting at 8:08 p.m., as Snell and the Rays try to even up the best-of-seven series.
