‘I think I need a frosty to ease this burn’: Twitter reacts to Wendy’s roast of Rays

The team asked to get roasted on #NationalRoastDay. Things got spicy once the fast food chain responded.

Rays manager Kevin Cash pulled pitcher Blake Snell from Game 6 of the World Series nearly four months ago, and Wendy’s won’t let the team forget it.

On #NationalRoastDay, a fake social media holiday, the fast food chain tweeted a callout for its followers to get roasted. The Rays responded, asking Wendy’s to keep it “spicy like your nuggs.”

Wendy’s responded five minutes later with, “We’re surprised you didn’t pull your social media manager in the middle of writing that great tweet,” a nod to Cash’s unpopular decision to pull Snell in a game the Rays led at the time but went on to lose.
