PORT CHARLOTTE — Tickets to the Rays’ 14 spring home games at Charlotte Sports Park sold out about five minutes after going on sale to the general public Friday.
The team said the bulk of the tickets were sold in presales to previous spring season ticket holders, Rays Insiders subscribers and others.
The inventory was severely limited, as stadium capacity has been reduced to about 1,100 due to pandemic health and safety protocols, with tickets for fixed seats and berm seating in pods of two or four.
The Rays open the spring season Sunday in Port Charlotte against the Braves.
There is a chance a very limited number of tickets could be made available closer to game time via raysbaseball.com.
Tickets for spring road games, if available, can be purchased through the host team’s websites.
