Rays vs. Nationals: Tyler Glasnow back on mound

After taking Monday off, the American League-best Rays are back in action tonight against the Nationals, first pitch at Tropicana Field at 7:10.

Tyler Glasnow will be on the mound for the Rays, working with two extra days’ rest as the Rays adjusted their rotation to give him and the other starters some additional rest. Glasnow, who made his previous outing last Thursday in New York, said he was okay with the plan.

Veteran lefty Jon Lester, a free-agent addition from the Cubs, will start for the Nationals.

Brandon Lowe, who has struggled against lefties, is not the Rays’ lineup but is expected back Wednesday when they face another lefty, Patrick Corbin.

Manager Kevin Cash said reports continue to be good on Triple-A pitcher Tyler Zombro, who is recovering after being hit in the face by a line drive on Thursday.

Cash also said Ji-Man Choi, on the injured list with groin tightness, is doing better and could be ready when the team opens a series in Chicago on Monday.
