Rays at Tigers: Chris Archer on injured list, Nick Anderson active

The Rays had a busy morning before their 12:10 p.m. game against the Tigers with a series of player moves, including placing starter Chris Archer on the injured list and activating reliever Nick Anderson.

Archer left his Saturday start with a recurrence of the left hip soreness that has been an issue throughout his rehab and return from an April forearm injury.

Dietrich Enns, who worked four hitless innings in relief of Archer, will move into the rotation and start Thursday at home against the Tigers.

Anderson, the Rays’ highest leverage reliever in 2020, has been working his way back since sustaining a partial tear of an elbow ligament near the end of spring training, and the Rays are eager to have him back.

Also Sunday, the Rays activated outfielder Brett Phillips from the injured list and designated struggling reliever Shawn Armstrong for assignment.
