SEATTLE — Catcher Francisco Mejia is back with the Rays and on the active roster after missing nearly two weeks after testing positive for COVID-19 following the team’s April 20 return from Chicago.
Rene Pinto, who made his big-league debut when called up, was sent back to Triple-A Durham.
After sweeping the A’s in Oakland, the Rays visit Seattle with some momentum at 15-10, a season-high five games over .500.
The series starts with a marquee pitching matchup, as the Rays’ Shane McClanahan faces Robbie Ray, who signed with the Mariners after winning the Cy Young award last year with Toronto.
