Rays report: Jeffrey Springs on mound vs. Orioles

The lefty has pitched well in four games since moving from the bullpen into the rotation.

BALTIMORE — The Rays will send lefty Jeffrey Springs to the mound tonight as they look to bounce back from Friday’s frustrating 8-6, 13-inning loss.

Springs has pitched quite well since sliding into the rotation, allowing one or zero runs in three of his four outings, with an 0-1, 2.45 ERA.

Shortstop Wander Franco is not in the Rays lineup, getting time to deal with the right quad problem that has been an issue for a while now, though manager Kevin Cash said he is available off the bench. The availability of reliever Andrew Kittredge, who is dealing with back issues, is also in question.

The Orioles lineup includes catcher Adley Rutschman, the game’s top prospect who was called up Saturday. Right-hander Kyle Bradish is starting for Baltimore.
