ST. PETERSBURG — Continuing their efforts to accrue pitching depth, the Rays re-signed veteran right-hander Erasmo Ramirez to a minor-league contract with an invite to major-league spring training.

Ramirez, 33, pitched for the Rays from 2015-17, then came back in June after being released by Washington.

Ramirez worked in several roles as the Rays lost multiple pitchers to injuries, posting a 1-0, 6.48 record over 15 games, striking out 30 over 33 1/3 innings, but allowing 46 hits, including seven homers.

Also Friday, outfielder Jake Mangum was announced as the player to be named completing the Nov. 17 trade of Vidal Brujan and Calvin Faucher to Miami for minor-league pitcher Andrew Lindsey and infielder Erick Lara.

Mangum, 27, is a switch-hitter with some speed who can provide depth at Triple-A Durham, and he could also get a spring invite. He hit .298 with five homers, 52 RBIs and a .771 OPS for Triple-A Jacksonville.

The Marlins acquired Mangum in December 2022 from the Mets, who got him as a 2019 fourth-round pick from Mississippi State.
